Site Information

Purpose

This blog-site was created and is maintained for use with English courses at Virginia Tech. This site’s content and features are currently being used for English 3844, Writing and Digital Media, Fall 2014.

Theme & Design

For the site, I choose to use the Twenty Ten theme by ‘the WordPress team’, because of its flexibility in appearance, simplicity, and ease of use by the reader. The header photo is of a spot on the Little Stony Creek below the Cascades waterfall in Pembroke, Virginia. I chose this image because it is one of my favorite images I have taken while hiking, and while it is attractive, it does not distract the reader from the site’s content. I have implemented the use of sub-pages in the form of drop-downs in the menu to help keep the site organized as well as keep related information tied neatly together.

Content

For content I included all required pages and assigned blog postings, but I did a little extra to help organize the site. I have created the category “In-class Posts” for all posts that I write in class, and will create others as needed so that older posts are more easily navigable. I have also created a page titled “Projects and Timeline” to fulfill two roles. The first is to provide an organizing lead topic for all of the project pages , and the second is to provide a space in which I can neatly record my progress on projects class-by-class and/or day-by-day.
